Working with Aggression + Vulnerability in Group: A Daylong Workshop

Saturday November 11, 2023 9-4:30pm - In Person

One of the biggest reasons we hear why therapists are hesitant to run groups in private practice is their fear of aggression, whether their own or their clients’.

Therapists are scared something destructive or hurtful will happen in the group and they won’t know how to work constructively with it and the vulnerable feelings that are potentially underneath the exchange.

Many of our missteps as therapists working with groups comes from our disavowal of aggression and/or vulnerability and the stigma surrounding both. We will pay particular attention to identity aggressions and explore how to work with them in group.

We will use both didactic and experiential learning to explore working with aggression and vulnerability in groups. The entire group will participate in the experiential component. Not talking during the experiential part of the day is a valid form of participation and is welcomed. Silent members are an important aspect of the group experience.
